About Me
Hi! I’m Alex and I’m an electrical engineer, hobbyist photographer, programmer, writer, artist, and musician, and runner! Unfortunately, I only do one of those things professionally. I made this website to keep track of all my personal projects, photography, and other things I’ve worked on, and to keep them all organized in one place.
My interest in computers and electrical engineering began with cryptocurrency mining. I built my own Ethereum mining computer when I was a sophomore in high school, which sparked my interest in computer hardware. From there I began building computers for my friends through the end of high school, while enjoying my math and physics classes. Once I got to college, I knew electrical engineering was what I wanted to do, even though the workload was difficult. From designing and breadboarding circuits to learning how to program in 6 different programming languages, I certainly appreciate all the doors my electrical engineering degree opened up for me. Throughout college I took advantage of my skills to make tasks easier, make devices for myself, and automate tasks.
I don’t even know when my interest in photography began, but I started taking it more seriously when I bought my first camera in 2018 with the intention of taking pictures of the night sky. Space has always and will always be a deep interest of mine, but I was absolutely mesmerized by astrophotography. Once I figured out people were taking pictures of the Milky Way from their own backyards, I decided it was time to give it a try. I was especially able to improve my skills during 2020, when COVID-19 moved school online, and I took the opportunity to drive 2 hours each way to central Florida where there was very little light pollution to take pictures of the Milky Way. Although I was always tired the following day, astrophotography was my favorite thing to do during the pandemic.
After graduating from Purdue University in 2023 with a major in electrical engineering and a minor in studio art & design, I moved to Syracuse, NY to work as an electrical engineer. Now that I don’t have to spend most of my free time doing homework or studying, I’ve taken up running! In 2024 I ran two marathons with the support and encouragement of my newfound running community, and plan to run more in 2025. My favorite races from 2024 were the Mountain Goat (10 mile) and Philly Marathon!
